Certification Update

RESO is winding down Data Dictionary 1.7 testing in January as the industry transitions to Data Dictionary 2.0 for 2022. MLSs should be on the lookout this month for a notification that your vendor has completed your certification testing for Data Dictionary 1.7. You will be able to review your certification report and accept the results at that time.

Listing Broker Contact Data Delivery Consistency

RESO and CMLS leaders met in December to discuss new changes to NAR’s Internet Data Exchange (IDX) Policy Statement 7.58 and VOW Policy Statement 7.91 (Broker Attribution). In this change to policy, IDX displays must show the listing firm name and a designated phone number or email address provided by the listing participant. This requirement is optional for VOW, at the MLS’s discretion.

RESO will continue to support CMLS development of best practices for implementing efficient solutions for data producers and consumers, including these display changes, as well as Policy 8.6 (One Feed) and 8.7 (Brokerage Back Office Data).

REALTOR®-owned and operated MLSs are required to implement these changes by March 1, 2022.

The response has been wonderful so far, and we hope to make this series a staple of the industry that you look forward to reading and occasionally laughing at on Fridays. Here are the entries that have been published since the last RESO Monthly:

Meeting Spotlight – RESO Certification Analytics Focus Group

With the release of RESO’s new certification system, a platform that allows for the collection and aggregation of data/performance elements now exists.

Meeting Spotlight – RESO Certification Analytics Focus GroupUsers can now view advertised and available data elements at the market and industry level, such as which resources, fields and lookups exist in a system. Performance metrics, trend analysis and historical reporting features will be available to help make data-driven decisions about standards adoption and to surface potential issues.

Data consumers can see which markets are the best fit for the data sets they need and which ones will require more custom mapping work. MLS operators will have the ability to see how well neighboring markets line up for data shares. Data providers can scout for issues ahead of integrations or conversions in order to save time.

The goal of this group is to meet quarterly to review current metrics and existing analytics for patterns worthy of bringing back to the workgroups. The focus group may refine existing metrics, suggest new metrics or even suggest new standards to keep up with emerging practices in the marketplace.

If you are interested in participating in this focus group, please contact RESO Development at dev@reso.org or make a comment on the Discussion Forum topic related to this focus group.

RESO Workgroup Meetings

Cross-Platform Interoperability Workgroup | December 14, 2021
The meeting was an end-of-year recap and conceptual discussion around the interoperability of back-end systems for uses such as transaction management, lead capture and offer management. The group also looked at how elements of the existing Data Dictionary can be leveraged to establish standards for communication between these types of systems. | CALL NOTES

Certification Subgroup | December 16, 2021
The group reviewed the change proposals for the Lookup resource and Data Dictionary 2.0 endorsement, with further work to be surfaced in the January 10 Transport Workgroup meeting. The remainder of the discussion was focused on whether or not the Data Dictionary endorsement should recognize resources only available via expansion (not yet a standard) in lieu of their being available at the top level. | CALL NOTES

Research & Development Workgroup | January 6, 2022
The meeting was an introduction to the new year with group members telling a bit about themselves and the chairs describing the group’s scope. The group discussed active business case submissions, their potential uses and current status. | CALL NOTES
