RESO Common Format (RCF) Has Arrived!
RESO Now Certifies Brokers and Their Vendors Certification at RESO has traditionally been for MLSs and their software providers. But real estate brokerages and their technology vendors have always been an important part of the RESO ecosystem.
The newly ratified RESO Common Format (RCF) standard offers a new way for non-MLSs to freely and efficiently share data between organizations, opening up opportunities for more certainty in broker technology planning through RESO certification.
RCF empowers a brokerage and its website vendor, CRM company, lead gen portal and back office tools to all talk to each other with data packaged in a simple, well-organized format, keeping the broker’s data accurate and consistent across systems.
The gates have been opened for brokers and their vendors to become the first to be certified by RESO. | READ MORE

Three Questions
The Three Questions interview series introduces you to real estate professionals with a hint of personality and humor. | VISIT THREE QUESTIONS
Transport Workgroup | February 5, 2024 The group approved changing testing requirements for a limited number of enumerated fields in Data Dictionary 2.0; rather than failing when values are not advertised in the metadata for one of these nine fields, providers will receive a warning during the certification process instead. This requirement will be re-enabled next year in Data Dictionary 2.1. There were also some changes to how enumerations are validated for those using the Lookup Resource in cases where the underlying fields never have data in them. | NOTES
Research & Development Workgroup | February 8, 2024 The group discussed the proposed MLS Data Process and Display Rules Resource for which a template of proposed fields has been posted. A plan was laid out for group review, Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS) review, making any necessary changes and then a vote by the workgroup. Pain points regarding roster information updates and ambiguity about the source of the data was discussed, along with RESO standards that may be used to help with standardizing data and transport of data. | NOTES
Interoperability Workgroup | February 13, 2024 Business-oriented user stories are being collected for a Best Practices Guide. The group discussed a hypothetical Association Management System (AMS) use case. Stories that answer key questions and data exchange workflows will be incorporated into the guide. Additionally, the group talked about the Payload Filter Business Case and the creation of a simplified Data Dictionary 2.0 sheet to indicate which fields belong with which payloads, beginning with AMS and Offer Management (OM) payloads. | NOTES
Data Dictionary Workgroup | February 15, 2024 The meeting included several votes, all of which passed: 1) changed the names of four fields in the Media Resource to use “ID” instead of “Id;” 2) added two new lookups (Proposed and Expired) to the GreenVerificationStatus field and removed mention of “occupancy” from existing definitions; 3) retroactively renamed the PowerStorage Resource to PropertyPowerStorage; 4) added Sign In and Sign Out lookup options to the EventType field of the Internet Tracking Resource. A newly rebooted Waterfront Data Elements Subgroup will streamline, standardize and reorganize water-related lookups in the WaterfrontFeatures and FrontageType fields. | NOTES
Fast Track Subgroup | February 20, 2024 The group reviewed the [Fast Track 2023-12-19] Suggested Mappings sheet, including the lookups for Appliances, Sewer and Utilities fields, and will review ongoing work being done with the WaterSource field at the next meeting. Suggestions for Appliances, Sewer and Utilities with an outcome date of 2024-02-20 were approved. A spreadsheet will be compiled and posted with lookups that may be beneficial additions to the Data Dictionary. | NOTES
Broker Advisory Workgroup | February 22, 2024 The meeting included a discussion of RESO Common Format (RCF), its potential benefits and real-world use cases. The proposed MLS Data Process and Display Rules Resource, which originated in this workgroup, is now with the R&D Workgroup, and proposed fields have been posted for review. The group also discussed how they currently exchange data in data shares, related pain points and what can be done via available and upcoming standards to address them. | NOTES
