  • What is RESO certification?

RESO certification is the process of testing technology systems to ensure that they conform to the capabilities required in ratified standards. • What happens if my organization is not certified?

Certification is voluntary. Becoming certified demonstrates that your data is optimized to empower your organization to integrate new tools and join data collaborations. It sends a strong signal to potential partners and customers that your company is at the forefront of the industry’s best technology practices. The goal of certification is to bring the technology experience to real estate that consumers and professionals expect.

  • My MLS vendor is certified. Doesn’t that mean that I’m certified?

Although a vendor may manage several MLSs, each MLS system is unique and must have its own data set and API capabilities certified. RESO uses MLS access credentials supplied by MLS vendors to verify standards conformance. When an MLS system passes testing, the vendor will reach out to a designated MLS staff representative to ask for results confirmation and an acceptance of certification terms. Once that is completed, certification from RESO is granted.

  • How long do RESO certifications last, and do they expire?

A certification endorsement on the newest version of a standard is classified as “Certified Current” on the RESO Certification Map and as “Certified” in RESO Analytics. When a new version is ratified, those current certifications become Certified Legacy. After another new version is ratified, the Certified Legacy endorsements expire and become uncertified. Another label is “Passed,” which means that an MLS provider has done the necessary work to achieve certification but the MLS itself has yet to approve the results. This label can be seen on the RESO Certification Map but not in RESO Analytics.
