The U.S. Department of Energy’s Home Energy Information Guide is now available online. This is a very valuable resource that has two primary purposes; it assists real estate professionals in providing home energy information to increasingly energy-conscious homeowners, buyers, and renters and it offers the MLS industry guidelines on how to best present such essential information while remaining RESO compliant.
The guide is both concise and comprehensive, linking to the most current information and most relevant research related to home energy information and data. As a resource created in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Home Energy Information Accelerator by the Council of Multiple Listing Services with the Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO) and National Association of REALTORS®, it is also an excellent example of how industry cooperation can create documents that safeguard market confidence.
