D’abord Paris, Puis le Monde!
Real estate leaders from more than 30 countries gathered in December 2023 for the first International MLS Forum in Paris, France.
The event was led by the European Association of Real Estate Professions (CEPI) and the Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO) with a cross-continental focus on the benefits of data standards and multiple listing services (MLSs) to professional estate marketplaces, consumers and governments.
Kickoff and Keynote
Conference host Joe Schneider introduced the audience to CEPI Director General Guy Valkenborg and President Jan Boruvka. They delivered an analysis of the current European real estate market.
CEPI’s goals include making the marketplace more transparent and liquid, moving more inventory, and encouraging cross-border relationships.
RESO CEO Sam DeBord and Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS) CEO Denee Evans outlined the many benefits that rules-based MLS organizations offer to marketplaces and the importance of a rules-based standards ecosystem that allows technology systems to freely and efficiently operate. | WATCH VIDEO (44:00)
Brad Inman, founder of the seminal Inman News and a resident of both the U.S. and France, shared his insights on the experience of covering real estate and buying real estate locally and abroad.
His purchase of a home in Paris, without an MLS to assist in the process, was a particularly powerful story about the value of listing services.
Dozens of impactful speakers and organizations were involved, including Stellar MLS in Florida, the Canadian Real Estate Association and Realtyna, the title sponsor.
The speakers and their experiences with real estate were diverse and fascinating. The overarching theme of the forum was harmoniously aligned with RESO’s mission to create and promote the adoption and utilization of standards that drive efficiency.
Presentations and panels drove home the fact that every real estate practitioner, trade organization representative and government official benefits from making data standards and/or an MLS-driven marketplace a priority for improvement and efficiency.
