RESO members,

We are embarking on a new chapter for RESO. Those of you who have joined us in workgroups and conferences over the past couple of years have seen an exciting new set of products coming into place.

In the next few months, RESO will unveil several research and reporting resources, including:

  • A white paper on the state of data sharing and alignment in the industry
  • A case study on using the Data Dictionary and RESO Analytics reports to facilitate software choice and competition
  • A Working with Real Estate Data course for the Canadian market (RED-CA)
  • RESO’s complimentary Industry Alignment Reports and premium Provider Alignment Reports and Market Alignment Reports

Your Organization’s Information
These advancements provide an opportunity to review RESO’s role in safeguarding your data and reporting on standards compliance and related capabilities.

During our certification process, RESO immediately expunges all of your organization’s property, roster and related records after testing. Following the terms and conditions of RESO Certification, RESO only retains metadata for reporting purposes. The metadata is the names and availability of data elements like fields and lookups, not the listing records themselves.

This metadata is published as part of the certification process at certification.reso.org and is used in a number of formations: data elements reports, metadata advertising and availability statistics, and alignment reports comparing systems to each other and industry averages.

RESO’s new premium alignment reports provide new arrangements of this metadata that members have found to be critical in analyzing their capabilities and those of their data collaboration partners.

RESO’s Research Role
While building standards specifications and certifying technical systems are critical roles of RESO, our organization was founded on a broader mandate: to create and ensure utilization of data standards and processes that maximize efficiencies for all parties in real estate transactions. This is our top strategic priority.

RESO has an uncommon role as a trusted resource for objective industry information. Our members are the source of our research’s value, allowing us to better support the industry’s service providers with powerful tools. We create an environment that provides the knowledge to navigate complex integrations of technology, organizations and people.

RESO is fortunate to be able to provide this unique reporting to the industry – not as grades or value judgments but as broadly and deeply researched facts. By illuminating the reality of industry opportunities and challenges, our members are better able to implement improvements that serve their customers.

As always, I am incredibly grateful for the RESO community and what you bring to our industry’s capabilities to improve the experiences of real estate consumers. Your RESO staff and board of directors strive for maximum transparency and openness to membership input. I welcome your feedback. You can email or call me directly to discuss RESO’s future.

Thank you,

Sam Debord Sig Gray
