This week’s interview is with Amy Gorce, CEO and Managing Partner at PRESTA Team and the CEO at REdistribute. We talked about forward progress, boss roles and how important “where” is today. Enjoy!
Q1: After nearly 20 years at Clareity and CoreLogic, you decided to venture forth with your own consultancy. Am I correct in assuming that it is equal parts scary, thrilling, difficult and joyous, and can you go into that a little bit more?
Amy: It’s terrifying but exhilarating. I’ve spent my career helping others build successful companies and staying engaged in the value of the MLS. Now that I’ve forged out on my own behalf, I am truly grateful that the industry has embraced the work we are doing at PRESTA Team.
I now have the opportunity to help the MLS industry more directly, and it was nice to get an exciting and meaty project like REdistribute in our first year.
Q2: You spent seven years as an MLS CEO at Intermountain MLS in Boise, Idaho, before you joined Clareity, which is a great run as an MLS CEO. What led you away from that path, and what is it like to return to the CEO role at REdistribute?
Amy: The two CEO roles could not be more different, haha.
My decision to leave Intermountain stemmed from a desire to be part of a startup, which was Clareity. Once again, it was all about opportunity and wanting to grow professionally. I’m grateful for my time as an MLS executive because that experience became part of my DNA, and my passion for the value of the MLS has never wavered.
Gregg Larson, Matt Cohen, Troy Rech, Paul Hethmon, Kevin Hughes – they were all part of my decision to join Clareity, because, I mean, what a team!
I came from a tech background, and Clareity provided a fast track about the industry. It was a great learning experience that I wanted and needed at that time.
The sale of Clareity to CoreLogic gave me more new experiences and opportunities, and I’m grateful for all of it!
At REdistribute, I have the good fortune of continuing to focus on MLS issues while also getting a chance to flex into other technology areas.
Q3: Not only did you change your career path for PRESTA Team, you changed your home geography, shifting from Idaho to Arizona. And yet you are the current face of a collaboration between the two largest MLSs in the country based in California and Maryland. How long do you suspect that you will helm this project and is real estate still really local?
Amy: I still do think that real estate is local, but real estate data is global!
I’m committed to the success of REdistribute and will stay as long as I’m adding value to the project.
Or until I get really, really tired. Thirty years in real estate is a long time!
