Connie Saldana has twenty-seven years’ experience working with seniors and people with disabilities in Southern Oregon at Rogue Valley Council of Governments (RVCOG), a designated Area Agency on Aging. With the help of group of professionals from a variety of fields and in partnership with AARP Oregon, the organization developed its Lifelong Housing Certification Program. The mission is to encourage the creation of a greater supply of homes that meet the needs of residents of all ages and abilities. Another goal: to develop a system to help interested buyers and renters to find those homes. The program consists of a checklist of accessibility features derived from International Residential Code and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) standards.
RVCOG The terminology for accessible features on the Lifelong Housing Certification Checklist has been adopted by RESO’s Data Dictionary. The Lifelong Housing Certification program has been nationally recognized by AARP and the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging. Connie has a Masters in International Management and is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist through the National Association of Home Builders.
